Medium Grade Circuit Boards

MEDIUM GRADE CIRCUIT BOARDS will typically contain a good ratio of IC chips to any other components on the board. Medium grade circuit boards contain resistors, capacitors and/or other small components and perhaps some small (though absolutely NO large), bulky components like transformers, heat sinks, large capacitors or excessively heavy metal frames and, of course, no batteries of any kind.

Boards of this grade may have several finger connectors, test points, plated board traces, etc.).  A large percentage of the cards you come across (other than motherboards) will fit into this category, which includes;

  • CD/DVD drive controller cards,
  • Audio/Video Cards (from such things as cable boxes, gaming consoles and some higher quality video players)
  • Higher quality printer and telephone boards

As this category fits a wide range of boards, here are some basic guidelines to help you identify MEDIUM GRADE CIRCUIT BOARDS that do not come from the above referenced places;

  1. The board is the same color throughout (both sides and the edge will be the same).  While this is not a ‘hard set’ rule, it is a good guideline.
  2. The board will be strong enough that the average man has a hard time breaking it into pieces (basically, if you can break it, it is a LOW GRADE CIRCUIT BOARD!)
  3. There will be no large, heavy pieces on this board (note that it may be possible to remove them and MAKE it OK!)

ALL BATTERIES (large or small) MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO SHIPPING

Circuit Boards are rated (and priced) according to the DENSITY of the IC chips on the board, as well as other high quality, high value parameters (see the Article on board grading How To Grade Circuit Boards You Want To Sell for more information).

If you have any questions about how your board would be graded by our buyers, send us a picture of both sides of your board, we are glad to help!
